Dar Roumana
Olinto, Atlas Mountains
Overview
Encircled by olive groves and the historic medina walls, Dar Roumana captures the warmth and refinement of a classic Fassi residence, enhanced with subtle boutique luxury. With just five individually designed rooms, this intimate guesthouse delivers rich character, authentic craftsmanship, and exceptional comfort in equal measure.
Location
Situated in the northern quarter of Fes’s ancient medina — a designated UNESCO World Heritage site — Dar Roumana immerses you in centuries of history. Wandering the surrounding alleyways feels like stepping back in time. The property lies around 15 km from Fes International Airport and within easy reach of the city’s most iconic landmarks, traditional souks, and notable restaurants.
Your Room
Each of the five rooms is spacious and stately, showcasing exquisite Moroccan detailing. Expect high paneled ceilings, intricately carved shutters set over stained-glass windows, ornate stucco arches, and beautifully patterned tiled floors. Many furnishings date back nearly a century, harmonizing perfectly with the historic surroundings. Modern comforts are thoughtfully included, from en-suite bathrooms to bespoke bath products infused with orange and cardamom.
The standout Yasmina Suite features large windows overlooking the courtyard and a small private balcony — an idyllic spot to relax with a book while the sounds of the medina drift gently upward, accompanied by a glass of fragrant mint tea.
Why We Love It
Dar Roumana feels intimate, elegant, and wonderfully detailed. Its location makes it an ideal base for discovering the artistic and architectural treasures of Fes. Yet the true highlight is the cuisine. With a resident French chef crafting daily menus inspired by the freshest market ingredients, each meal blends traditional Moroccan flavors with refined gourmet technique — an experience not to be missed.
